New York Fashion Week (Day II)

   Un día más, la ciudad de Nueva York se transforma en el "bufé" de la moda. ¿El plato del día? La soberbia de la belleza y, como postre, la elegancia de las nuevas colecciones que azotan, en este segundo día, a la New York Fashion week. Para ser sincero, me encantaría escribir sobre los quince shows que se tienen pensados para hoy viernes, pero me es imposible. Aún así, prometo seguir con la línea de análisis de tres-cuatro colecciones aquí, en Cattleya, como ya habéis podido ver en el post anterior. Si no podéis estar en Nueva York (algún día, por obra y gracias de Dior, iré- estoy seguro), no os preocupéis: yo os traigo a Nueva York. Así que relajaos y disfrutad de los desfiles de Zimmermann,Nicole Miller y Noon by Noor, al igual que algún pequeño comentario de otros desfiles.

   One more day, New York City becomes the "buffet" of fashion. What is the dish of the day? The pride of beauty and, for dessert, the elegance of the new collections that hit, this second day, the New York Fashion week. To be honest, I'd like to write about the fifteen shows that are orgaized for this Friday, but I can't. Anyway, I promise that I will show you three or four collections here in Cattleya, as you have already seen in the previous post. If you can not be in New York (one day, if Dior helps me, I will, I am sure), don't  worry or panic: I will bring  New York to all of you, guys. So enjoy yourselves with  Zimmermann, Nicole Miller and Noon by Noor fashion shows, and some mini comments on other collections.

  Mientras escribo esto, veo en directo el grandioso desfile de la casa de Zimmermann. Y digo "grandioso", porque me ha dejado sin respiración (la verdad es que no encuentro ningún adjetivo para poder calificar con exactitud lo qué estoy sintiendo ahora mismo ante la belleza de las prendas).

   While I'm writing this, I'm seeing  the amazing Zimmermann fashion show live on my computer. And I say "amazing", because  it's breathtaking (I can't actually find the right adjetives to use for defining all the beauty I am watching right now with this collection).

   La colección de Zimmermann me ha sorprendido gratamente: está llena de prendas exóticas, con un "amplio abanico" de cruces trasversales- tanto en los "tops" como en el resto de las prendas-, que me recuerdan bastante a la película de Sexo en Nueva York II.

   Podemos ver, principalmente, tres clásicos de la temporada: rayas, estampados felinos y estampados florales. Asimismo, las piezas tienen pinta de ser ligeras, con transparencias abundantes y toques orientales y rectos. Los colores predominantes en la colección son, en su mayoría, tonos metálicos, negros carbonizados, blanco crudo y dorado duna. Por otra parte, las telas parecen sacadas de algún zócalo árabe- son exquisitas, y sino, miradlas-, haciendo que la prenda goce de un amplio movimiento. 

   La combinación es perfecta y hay una fusión entre los colores y las estructuras del conjunto. Pero, ¿qué puedo destacar sobre todas las cosas? Los accesorios. Sí, no os extrañéis, pero es que están muy bien pensados (parecen que han sido elegidos minuciosamente). Por lo tanto, aplaudo fervientemente los collares "egipcios": son maravillosos. No esperaba menos de Zimmermann. La verdad es que me ha emocionado bastante, y eso ya es decir. Excelente colección.

    I was pleasantly surprised with Zimmermann's collection: exotic clothing, with a "wide range" of transverse cuts. This collection reminds me of Sex and The City II the movie.

    We can see three of the classics of the season: stripes, leopard prints and floral prints. Also, the "pieces"  have a lot of  trasnparencies and oriental touches, and straight cuts. The predominant colors in the collection are, mostly, metallic tones, charred black, off- white and dune gold tones. I imagined, while I was watching the coleccion, that the cloths cames straight out from some Arab socket. They are exquisite, and if you don't believe me, you'll have to have a look at them-. the garments "enjoy" a wild movement.

    The combination is perfect and there is a fusion between colors and structures. But what can I emphasize over all?  Accessories. Yes, don't be surprised, but they are "special" (they have been chosen carefully). Therefore, I loved, fervently, the "Egyptians" necklaces . They  are wonderful. I expected no less from Zimmermann. The truth is that I got excited watching this , and that's quite "difficult"- I don't usually get excited with something. Excellent collection.

Nicole Miller.

   Un estilo bastante urbano, fresco, juvenil y activo es lo que nos presenta la diseñadora americana, Nicole Miller, perfecto para la mujer del siglo XXI. Hay una cosa que no me gusta nada, y que debo destacar desde el comienzo: al igual que en casi todos los desfiles que hemos podido disfrutar, Miller también introduce clásicos de la temporada. Y cuando digo "clásicos de la temporada", me refiero, en este caso, a los estampados de rayas y al floral. Entonces, ¿dónde está el "crimen"? Bueno, pues en la mezcla de ambos en un mismo conjunto. Claro que nadie ha prohibido esto, y nada está escrito en el mundo de la moda, pero- y en mi opinión- no deberían combinarse. Por separados pueden llegar a ser bellos (o mejor dicho "pasables"), pero juntos, es un intento suicida y desesperado para poder estar acorde con lo "dictado" por la temporada y en "sinfonía" con esas tendencias tan odiosas. 

   A very urban, fresh, youthful and active style is what the American designer, Nicole Miller, presents in the NYFW,  perfect for the woman of the century. I didn't like, and yes, I have to say it, one aspect: Miller adds some classics of this season. And when I say "classic of the season," I mean, in this case, stripes and floral prints. So where is the "crime"? Well,  the combination of both of them in a single outfit is the error. I'm not saying that this has been forbidden, and nothing is written in the fashion world, but-and in my opinion- they should not be combined. "Alone", they  can be beautiful (or "acceptable"), but together, it's a desperate suicide attempt for following what this season says and for being in "symphony" with these stupid trends.

   Por otro parte, hay una abundancia de prendas rectas y trazos casi arquitectónicos y  faldas con cortes traseros. Los colores y los estampados son muy étnicos, a juego con unas sandalias de suela de madera. Asimismo, se juega con la silueta de la mujer y el trazo en las telas, al igual que con el el estampado y el corte del conjunto (blusas y tops). También encontramos formas abstractas y el brillante es un tanto excesivo (me recuerdan  alos leggins de Stradivarius, pero con más clase).

  No me gusta nada la combinación de la falda de tela de brillos o de seda, con el brillo de los tops. No sabes a dónde mirar, y eso es un problema.

  Los encajes y los detalles en flecos no faltan en la colección (de hecho, la pencil skirt de encaje es una de las piezas que más me han gustado); al igual, que la geometría irregular y con motivos étnicos. 

  Al final del desfile, hay un cambio repentino en la línea de la colección: los modelos grunge y roqueros toman la pasarela. La verdad es que desentonan un poco, aunque enfatizan a la mujer dinámica e innovadora que tanto busca Miller. A pesar de esto, me falta color en algunos conjuntos.

   Debo nombrar también las chaquetillas (se me parecen a las de Chanel), con unas mangas con volantes (tipo pirata). Y, en cuanto a los flecos con brillos, solo puedo decir: "¡Esto es lo que me faltaba por ver!". Me entra jaqueca cuando los recuerdo.

  Para cerrar el show, la diseñadora apuesta por el bordado "tela de araña" y la última pieza es, para mi gusto, una obra maestra: un vestido en negro, con la espalda abierta en forma de "v" y una apertura de vertido en la falda. Tiene un toque un tanto sórdido y gótico (vampírico), pero me ha sorprendido gratamente.  

  On the other hand, there is an abundance of straight and almost architectural lines and "rear"-cut skirts. The colors and prints are very ethnic, matching wooden sole sandals. The designer plays with the silhouette of the woman and  fabrics, with the prints and cuts (blouses and tops). We also find abstract shapes and bright details, which, for my taste,are too much (they remind me of Stradivarius leggings, but prettier).

   I don't like the combination of the skirt (the cloth of the skirt) with the brightness of the tops. I even can't know where to look at, and that's a problem.

   The lace and fringe details are not lacking in the collection (in fact, lace pencil skirt is one of the pieces that I liked the most), as well as irregular geometry and ethnic grounds.

   At the end of the show, there was a sudden change in the line of the collection: grunge and rocker outfits took the catwalk. The truth is that it was strange, but this emphasizes the view of a dynamic and innovative woman  that Miller is trying to show. Despite this, I missed some color on some outfits.

    I have to talk about the jackets (they look like Chanel's), with the ruffled sleeves (pirate style). And, about fringes-in- glitter, I can only say, "I didn't need to see that". I get headaches when I remember it.

   To close the show, the designer showed us some garments in "spider web"  embroidered and the last piece is, in my opinion, a masterpiece: A black dress with an open back- in "v"- and a huge opening in the skirt. It has  sordid and Gothic style (vampire), but I was pleasantly surprised.

    Dos cosas que se me olvidaban: 

1. La camisa de flecos me la pondría con una pencil skirt de color blanco crudo y unos salones en esmeralda. Quedaría espectacular, porque la camisa tenía toques en ese mismo tono.
2. Al principio del desfile había muchas lentejuelas y abalorios y la verdad es que no estaban mal. Como dice mi amiga Amira (a la cual debo de agradecer su ayuda en los comentarios): "Es difícil poner lentejuelas y que no parezca Hannah Montana".

   Ah, I almost forget two things!:

1. The fringed shirt would be great with an off- white pencil skirt and some emerald pumps, because the shirt had that tone too.
2. In the beggining of the show, there were a lot of garmets which had many sequins and beads and the truth is that they weren't bad. As my friend Amira always says  (I must thank her for her support, by the way): "It is difficult to use sequins without "being"  Hannah Montana."

Noon by Noor.

   Sin duda, fue uno de los mejores desfile que he visto en este segundo día (aunque cuando leáis esto, ya será el tercero) en la NYFW. En esta colección, hay muchos estampados florales y alguna chaqueta americana, aunque, realmente, la firma se centra en prendas muy femeninas y juveniles, llenas de color. Podemos encontrar una gran variedad de faldas, vestidos, pantaones cortes y algún que otro crop top. Las camisas de smoking de gasa, bajo un mono, también tienen su lugar en la colección.

   Los zapatos son de color granate y crema; y tengo que hacer hincapié en las chaquetas oversize, las pencil skirt por debajo de las rodillas, las telas brillantes y la "mezcla" de crop tops con faldas largas. 

   Undoubtedly, it was one of the best shows I've seen on this second day (but when you read this, it will be the third day) in the NYFW. In this collection, there are a lot of floral prints and some American jacket,the firm focuses on feminine clothes, a very colorful collection. We can find a variety of skirts, dresses,and some crop tops.  Chiffon tuxedo shirts under he jump suits, also have their place in the collection.

   The shoes have maroon and cream tomes, and I have to emphasize  the oversize jackets, the pencil skirts, the bright fabrics and the "combination" of crop tops with long skirts.

   Antes de finalizar, os aviso: cuando la NYFW llegue a su fin, dedicaré unas entraditas para escribir sobre todas esas ini reseñas que os he prometido al comienzo, es decir, sobre todos esos desfiles que no he podido comentar.

    

        Before I go to bed, I want to recall you that I will dedicate some posts, when this NYFW 2014 comes to its end, to write (little reviews) about those fashion shows that I wasn't able to comment here.
